Nee!
*****
Our garden is part of one of the gardens of farms that once belonged to the castle nearby. This bring surprises and the initial builder of the house had to decide what to do with the immense hole he found on the premises. It became a swimming pool, but as time went on the liner gave up. Renovation was necessary, but what to do? Would it remain a swimming pool or would we make a pond out of it? Our climate is far from Mediterranean, I never swam this summer, even not on the Loosdrecht Lakes when we were out on the boat. A pond attracts so much life in any form. Several times I have written about the pond in my previous posts: the ducks visiting, the cats, the birds, the dragon flies, it is endless what happens around a pond. That is much more fun than just me swimming around like Ava Gardner in a turquoise pool.
On cleaning the pond in autumn I am aware of its form, like the top of a fan. On doing this my mind drifts off to one of my passions: fans. In Geneva I visited a most wonderful exhibition on fans and took with me the above text. I keep it safe within a beautiful card a friend sent me, showing symbols like cherry blossom, chrysanthemums, a bird of paradise, pomegranates, a butterfly. Another symbol is the number of fans shown, five in total. Everything goes in five in Japan.
Such rich and romantic history in fans! Although I have a beautiful black, white and silver fan from Japan I use a program book to wave away the hot flushes and no way I am sending messages!
