The Crocus and the Hyacinth

Dorus (Tom Manders) sang this sweet song about a crocus and a hyachinth:

A yellow Crocus and a white Hyacinth
Were making love at a site sheltered from the wind
They were happy, as happy as a child
He kissed that Crocus, and she that white Hyacinth

He wanted to marry her, that white Hycinth
And went to her father, to ask for her hand
Dad did not want to know anything about his child being loved
And he beat his Crocus, his very own child

And dad said: nothing can become out of this, do know what you are doing
Because the colour of a Crocus is quite different than that of a Hyacinth
This will only bring you misery, wherever you will go
But like all lovers do, they ignored this advice

They married secretively, and had a child
That looked like a Crocus and like a Hyacinth
And all the bulbs ignored the family Hyacinth
But, well, they did not care about this, because as you know love makes blind.

Then, then there was an exhibition, from Daffodil to Hyacinth
And the couple registered and also their child.
And that now won a prize with a ribbon
Because of its family tree and its original colour

    Groetjes liefs jacky

When I hear the name Doris I started singing imediately "Er zaten twee motten in mijn oude jas, en die twee motten die wonen er pas" A legend he is
